Two weeks exploring the West Coast!

Hi, thanks for stopping by! As I mentioned in my first post I recently went on a two week vacation with my boyfriend Spencer. Our trip started in Chicago, where we caught a train to Seattle. From there we took a 7 night Alaskan Cruise with Royal Caribbean and ended the vacation with two nights in New York. The trip was the perfect mix of relaxing as well as exploring and sightseeing.

Spencer and I met in Chicago, where we spent one night at theWit hotel. I cannot say enough good things about theWit. The location is perfect and overlooks the river. Chicago is such a fun city to explore, and I loved eating the deep dish pizza.
The next day we made our way to Union Station to embark on a 45 hour train trip. Yes that’s right. FORTY-FIVE HOURS. Have you ever done anything for 45 hours???? It’s a long ass time. In all seriousness, the train trip was pretty fun and we were well prepared with plenty of yummy snacks. By the morning on day 3 we were ready to get off the train.
Finally we arrived in beautiful Seattle. I had visited Seattle a few years earlier in the Fall and was not overly impressed (mainly due to the rain) but this trip completely changed my mind!! We had so much fun exploring Seattle, and Seattle really has some of the best food I’ve ever eaten.

After two nights in Seattle it was time to board our cruise!! We chose to go on a Royal Caribbean 7 night Alaska Cruise on the Ovation of the Seas. I had never been on a cruise before, and the size of the boat kind of overwhelmed me initially. The first full day we were at sea, which I really liked as it gave us a chance to get our bearings on the ship. The cruise made three stops: Juneau, Skagway, and Victoria, Canada.

This cruise was the perfect taster of Alaska, and definitely made me want to see more of Alaska in the future. In Juneau and Skagway we did shore excursions, and in Victoria we just spent the day wandering around the city. Of the three ports Skagway was my favorite. It was such a cute town that looked like something straight out of the Gold Rush! When our cruise came to an end we spent one more day exploring more of Seattle before taking a red eye flight to New York.
Taking a red eye flight was soooo exhausting!!! Especially when we could not check into our hotel until 2pm. It was so nice to spend two days relaxing in New York before ending our trip together.
Thanks for taking the time to read about my trip! I will be going into more detail on all the cities I visited in future posts.
